This is my first year making anything I’m proud enough to sell as a Christmas gift. If I’m being real honest, this is the first year I’m proud enough to even give away something I made as a Christmas present.
I take that back … I have made some good playlists as gifts but we’ll come back to that.
In a year when human-to-human contact means SO MANY THINGS, there haven’t been many opportunities to actually meet the people buying Sideye. Despite that, I’ve “met” a lot of people through this whole thing. Some live in entirely different time zones. Some live in my hometown. Some even sent their Secret Santa the gift of Sideye socks (I can’t even tell you how happy that made me.)
Last week I hosted a socially distanced pop-up in my front yard. In the days leading up to it, I dyed my little heart out while jammin’ out to soulful holiday tunes.
I DYED THIS MANY SOCKS.
I LISTENED TO SO MANY SONGS.
While getting ready for the pop-up it hit me that a few folks would be getting Sideye goods wrapped with a bow, just for them. Something I dreamt up would end up in a stocking opened on Christmas morning.
And, let me tell you, that felt amazing.
